And while we do have some very smart people, I highly doubt the average IQ here is something like 135. That's the top 1% of the population.

Jesus Christ, people. My verbal IQ is very high, but my non-verbal IQ is perfectly average. It's nothing to be ashamed of, and this kind of wank only lends itself to the stereotype of liberals as intellectual elitists.

Also, IQ means very little in terms of how you interact with people and express yourself. If I did have a full-scale IQ (it wasn't calculated because of the huge gap in my scores), it would be above average but not terribly impressive. I get good marks and people comment that I express myself like someone much older (I'm 17). I mean, in certain areas I know I'm not very smart, but in day to day life I get read as "intelligent". I have a friend who was actually diagnosed as having an intellectual disability (IQ below 85) as a child, and while he has academic issues, he generally comes across as a perfectly average teenager.
