70. Why isn't Gary Bauer on this list?
In Slate, arguments pro and con about the hard proof ==> http://www.slate.com/id/35836 /
The Gary Bauer Scandal

If reporters had the evidence, they could have produced it. If not, they could have closed their notebooks and walked away. Instead, they interrogated Bauer for half an hour in front of eight TV cameras and wrote articles suggesting that whether or not he had had an affair, he was wrong to have left open the possibility that anyone might have thought he had done anything wrong. The scandal isn't that Bauer committed adultery. The scandal is that without proving that charge or even making it, the media have found ways to spin lesser, derivative, and empty insinuations about him into a national story. Let's examine the charges against him.

Gary Bauer's Skeleton Closet

Unfortunately for him, his record isn't quite as squeaky clean as his speeches. And if you wanted to be mean, you could say he is barely 5 foot tall and looks like a cross between a gay Grinch and Mr. Bean, but that wouldn't be fair.

Consider these allegations:
* Affair with a 26-year old staff member
* Taking Big Money From the Moonies
* Avoided the Vietnam War
* Quotes
* Sources

Oh, wait. Maybe it's not true. After all, ==> http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-srv/WPcap/1999-09/30/0...
Bauer Says He Did Not Have Affair

Charles Jarvis, the former Bauer campaign chairman who defected to the campaign of Steve Forbes, and Tim McDonald, former chief of advance operations, said Bauer spent hours behind closed doors with her and traveled alone with her, violating the strict rules they believe govern conservative Christian married men in their dealings with women.

With his wife and three children at his side, Bauer yesterday called a news conference to try to damp down the controversy, which he charged was being whipped up by an unnamed rival campaign. Aides later said he was referring to the Forbes campaign.

"The core idea of this rumor campaign is that I have violated the vows I made to my wife 27 years ago," Bauer said. "These rumors and character assassination are disgusting, outrageous, evil and sick. They are trash-can politics at its worst. . . . I have not violated my vows."
