There's this impression that the Revolution left people with that everyone's a fanantic, but that's not the case at all. The people are swell. The food's great. The history is fascinating. The efficiency is nonexistent--but that's part of the charm.

It was, admittedly, an easier society to socialize in under the shah, because the idiotic religious restrictions weren't there, but you also had to "watch what you say, watch what you do" when it came to talking politics--in short, you just didn't do it. You'd do a lot of nudging, winking and talking in code, but even at that, you didn't know who was who, so it could get a little odd. There were a ton of Russkies over there, too, doing this-n-that...to include working on that nuke plant they have yet to get rolling. Some of those folks had some agendas, too.

That said, I'd love to see it become a safe and friendly place for people to live in and tour again. The sky is so blue it hurts to look at it!
