it's about how much somebody is allowed to pass on after they are dead.

And what does it mean to "succeed in life". According to what you just implied it means "to make lots of money."

As for the ridiculous idea that a million in the bank does not make you rich, because hyperinflation might wipe you out. The logic does not work. If you have a million, then you are rich. If huperinflation wipes you out, then you are no longer rich. But just because you could lose your wealth in the future, does not mean that you do not have it now. Currently you are alive, correct? But suppose you are walking down the street and get hit by a car and killed. By your logic, because you could be killed on any given day, I cannot say that you are alive.

I also did not say anything about good or bad. The question was about rich. You said a person wants to be able to leave enough money so their grandkids can goto college. I think $1,000,000 could put a few grandkids through college. Maybe not Princeton, but a decent state school.
