explosives, things like that. Armed armies, marching into the field died around oh 1865... and that is what people think about when speaking of civil wars. Not even the Russian Civil war of 1917 was fully armies going at each other... even if there were Reds and Whites... But that was the last of those wars with regular, more or less, troops.
