25. Yep they take credit US taxpayer sponsored research
then spend a lot of time reinventing versions of existing drugs so they can have a new patent - that is when they don't lobby congress into extending the patents again and again and again. I found the FDA's page of drug patents once for my uncle who wanted to know when his epilepsy drug was finally going to come down in price since his druggist thought it was due only to find it had been extended.
