i can tell you that this DEFINITELY sounds like the collapse of an economy.
There are certain towns in the US that have been downtrodden for so long that i don't go there to look for antiques. The simple fact is that some places are so desperate that everything of value has been sold for pennies on the dollar long ago.
The proper price for a recently made hand woven rug is $175-500 in the us.
