795. It's a violation of DU Rules and violation of trust within individual threads
that one is communicating with respect to the matter at hand. The unsuspecting get jumped by screaming flying monkeys out of nowhere -- "nowhere" being an undisclosed location where the marauders gathered and planned their attack.

Except these are no longer undisclosed locations. The "obvious problem" has become a chronic disease.

You are right -- it "is one of the major contributors to making people feel victimized on DU." ""The behavior is toxic." Why Szy is right. If it violates DU Rules, zero tolerance is appropriate.

There are what I call wormholes, Skinner, well worn tunnels from certain forums/groups to others used on a regular basis. The application of the Rules appears to be arbitrary, and the Mods are not able to answer what the criteria or Rules actually are.

The truth is a few of those particular wormholes are used on a regular basis for repeated toxic purposes. It may be a few and it may be a handful of toxic posters who frequent them most.

However, they are allowed to do it without sanction. They gain more confidence and power in what they can get away with. At this point, those few appear to have carte blanche.

Being allowed to do it openly gives some bullies more assurance to cause ever more mayhem and break more DU Rules. They do a lot of damage. They are hostile. The behavior is toxic. They are so out of control, they are even self righteous about their invasion and destruction of other threads and their derogation and defamation of other DUers.

Since those few bullies have gotten so completely out of control, it would be a good time to follow your inclination "back to the zero-tolerance approach."

Thank you for this thread and your attention to the linking.
