77. Thank you for bringing it up. Homelessness is very relevant to the issues of jobs, civil liberties
and the ambivalence this OP is about. The OP referenced problems, not people, so the homeless are there between the lines with all the people affected by the problems.

I need to ask you to give me a bit of break here, if you want to discuss. I have no problem with noting the repercussions of joblessness all over the spectrum. The economic and social impacts are going to affect homeless people for many reasons. I knew you might call me on the jobs/homeless connection and you did. This bigger economic/jobs picture affects those who are older and disabled too.

From what I've learned on DU, if you care about a topic, you will need to keep writing about it and help people understand and maybe change their habits of speech as you'd like. Please don't assume those who don't mention homelessness directly are "ignorant/ignoring."

"What would it take for some of you to actually begin to care and get active on this?"

That's what it will take.

"Right here in River City," Sacramento was covered in the national news for its long time "Tent City." The cameras arrived, the vans with food and water, the officials who said sanitation and safety were issues and the Mayor who is a basketball celebrity who wants to polish his image.

So, everybody got real busy and kept the winter shelter open longer so they could remove the Tent City and relocate the homeless to the state fairgrounds.....

...the state fairgrounds, which are MILES AWAY from homeless services, including the kid's school and in an unwalkable suburban area with TOTALLY inadequate public transportation (which costs money anyway) where the people have to clear out every day and reenter at night.

Many folks did not want to go there, many had pets and some boarding was available (but still) and some private housing was provided for some of the people from the Tent City.

This is a solution? So the Powers That Be can make the Tent City and the people disappear?

Please don't think all of us are ignoring this.
