Well, not really but....
The original structure was a two room house built sometime between 1850-1880. Most of the house I have now was built around that in 1889, when it was wired for electricity. In 1944 the back porch was enclosed to form new rooms and a strange and awkward stairway was built on the back side.
It was sold to the Catholic Church in the mid sixties to house nuns who cared for the aging and ill in the nearby convalescent home. In 1984 it was sold again and divided into 5 apartments, just like yours.
We bought it in June of 2001 and converted it into a duplex and moved mom onto the ground floor after she had a heart attack.
Walls, countless doors and all of the kitchens were torn out and we're STILL remodeling our main bath right now. Still, I really love this house. Even though I think it might be killing me, and I know it's stealing all my money.
