26. "The extent of the emotional trauma rivals the extent of the physical trauma"
Sickening. Truly sickening.

This is why San Francisco shouldn't have such a bug up its ass about concealed handgun licenses. She could have saved herself a terrific ordeal that will plague her with nightmares for the rest of her life if she had been allowed to draw down on these cheesedicks.

  - Unfortunately, the death penalty is more expensive than taking care of a violent felon  Hippo_Tron   Dec-20-08 07:21 PM   #30
     - There was a good discussion on the death penalty on the recent MTB  ihavenobias   Dec-20-08 07:46 PM   #35
        - Well..  Cid_B   Dec-21-08 01:15 AM   #50
           - I didn't write those myths, but that's another reason to check out the episode.  ihavenobias   Dec-21-08 12:07 PM   #51

  - Am I the only one who reads this as objectifying the victim by her sexual orientation?  chucktaylor   Dec-20-08 05:26 PM   #6
  - I agree the terminology is very strange in the context.  enough   Dec-20-08 05:29 PM   #7
  - I totally agree and was going to post about it, but didn't have the energy  HEyHEY   Dec-20-08 05:30 PM   #8
  - I'm guessing they included the 'lesbian' description so prominently  riverdeep   Dec-20-08 05:33 PM   #10
  - They explain it further down in the article:  MPK   Dec-20-08 05:35 PM   #11

  - 'Lesbian woman' is redundant  Oeditpus Rex   Dec-20-08 05:36 PM   #12
  - That's what I meant. Using "woman" first and then "lesbian" would have been better.  chucktaylor   Dec-20-08 05:38 PM   #14
  - I thought part of the point was the hate-crime-ness of it.  BlooInBloo   Dec-20-08 05:39 PM   #15
  - Good point. If it wasn't a hate crime, targeting her for being gay, her orientation isn't relevant  Bucky   Dec-20-08 05:42 PM   #16
  - It gets the point across in 5 words that it was a hideous hate crime.  Gwendolyn   Dec-20-08 05:45 PM   #17
  - But we don't know it was yet  HEyHEY   Dec-20-08 07:25 PM   #32

        - that's the media plan, shock yer ass into buying papers  HEyHEY   Dec-20-08 09:24 PM   #42
  - that was my thought. why did they feel the need to express her sexuality  seabeyond   Dec-20-08 06:07 PM   #20
  - No, I understand that her sexuality was relevant, I just thought they presented it poorly.  chucktaylor   Dec-20-08 06:19 PM   #24
  - She was probably gang-raped because she's a lesbian  haruka3_2000   Dec-20-08 09:05 PM   #39
  - That's typical. Gay people aren't human - we're "gay" or "lesbian" or "transgendered."  yardwork   Dec-20-08 06:39 PM   #28
  - It sounds deliberately over salacious, not just the 'lesbian' choice  Taverner   Dec-21-08 12:08 PM   #52
