92. MAPE checking in.
I know exactly what you are talking about. At my last job (as a hazardous waste technician we all just got slammed all summer long with usually about 15-25 hours of ovetime per week (once again dealing with hazardous waste) and as soon as things slowed down for the winter and everybody could just work a regular 40, they'd lay enough of us off so that the people left behind would still put in 55 hours a week. The benefits weren't that great (and I was seasonal, so I didn't get any at all). What was the starting wage for this sweet, sweet deal? $10.25/hour. Oh yeah, pretty much everybody there was a licensed commercial driver too.

I'd point out that the teamsters would help us organize in a heartbeat and that we'd at least stop getting steamrolled day after day and it just went nowhere.

ON a brighter Union note: I hear the Smithfield Farms (hog slaughtering) in NC just voted to unionize. That is friggin' HUGE.
