33. Interesting thing happening here in NW Arkansas,
home of WalMart. The mom and pop stores are coming back. And they have much better prices and much better service than the local WalMart. Plus they treat their employees well. They are full time employees, not temps, and they are given salaries that, for around here, aren't bad. ($10.50 an hour is way above what WalMart employees get here--try three bucks an hour less than that!) Besides that, the local owners take pride in the town and contribute to it in many ways--our local druggist lives above his store on Main Street and is one of the folks behind city beautification, the Art Walk, and live theater in the old movie house on the square. WalMart used to donate to local causes, but haven't in recent years.

The problem with WalMart is that they have let quality and service and community involvement go by the wayside. All they have now is cheap junk.
