3. I just feel sad... Walmart is so exploitative...
Edited on Sat Nov-29-08 11:27 AM by hlthe2b
There is not a store near where I live, but when I take an alternate route home from work, I do go by a big Walmart SuperStore. It is in a predominantly lower income Latino area and there is always a large crowd there. While I know that there are some much needed bargains there and I certainly can't criticize those seeking--they also sell such crap, especially clothing that won't last the season and toys that break the first day. The one time I went in, there was such an oppressive and stress-filled atmosphere. I felt like the workers were very demoralized-- exhausted dealing with the crowds and that the shoppers, myself included, were constantly one breath away from a shop-lifting accusation.... It was very unpleasant... I never have that experience at Target, though I know that they are probably more expensive on things.
