81. I believe that there was a pretty good chance that Oswald wasn't alone.
I believe the following things:

1.) There was more than one shot. Most eyewitness accounts recall hearing 3 shots.

2.) Oswald fired ONE of the shots from the 6th floor of the Depository. Forensics did show it hit JFK.

3.) The other two shots were from other locations, at more ground level.

4.) The extra shots were to make sure the "job was done", in case Oswald was off the mark. I hate to use the word, but they were decidedly overkill in this aspect to almost guarantee the outcome.

5.) LBJ and the CIA could have conspired to mutually benefit from this.
Kennedy was going to shut down the CIA's operations in Southeast Asia, notably the "Air America" transports (the Iran-Contra deal of it's day). After the botched "Bay of Pigs" invasion of Cuba by the CIA, JFK had little faith in them. LBJ could have made a deal with the CIA saying that if he were POTUS, he wouldn't shut it down, but even expand it as part of a larger U.S. involvement in Southeast Asia to try to combat the Soviet Union and the perceived spread of Communism in that part of the world. Remember, it was LBJ that escalated America's presence in Vietnam and turned it into a full-fledged "war" after the (now false) Gulf of Tonkin incident and resolution.
