that being said most people I know do things to their body that are not healthy - smoke, drink too much, take more drugs than they need (over the counter, prescription etc..not just illegal).

Those people whose addiction is food cannot hide it like the others. The extra weight is obvious. So, while you may look at a person who is fat and pass judgment you may also be sitting next to someone who smokes too much and drops vicodins to feed their addiction.

It's ridiculous in many cases to not look at obesity on many different levels - one being an addiction. Regardless of the reason, there is a human being there that should not be the recipient of someone's scorn based simply on their size.
