9. Here's an important suggestion for anyone protesting
Bring crosses -- big ones. You can paint stuff on them like "Do not crucify gay people on a cross of hate" or stuff like that. Why?

We had a demo in Palm Springs on the Friday after the vote. It was right after the election, people were hurt and a lot of them upset and angry.

Some idiot woman, claiming she was "expressing her religious beliefs" charged into the crowd carrying a huge styrofoam cross. Some of the protestors grabbed the cross and broke it up. They shouldn't have done that, but they were pretty emotional.

Now, the cops are trying to pressure the woman into pressing charges and the fundie nuts in town are trying to get the police to classify this as a hate crime.

We need to take their own symbols away from them. If there are demos all over the country, you can be sure the fundies will show up with their crosses. If we are carrying them too, it takes away any effect they have, including attracting the attention of the TV cameras.

Just a suggestion from an old '60s radical.
