13. If it's a decrease
in single issue voting, it can't be much of one. Anti-gay initiatives passed by large enough margins in 2004 that they had to include significant support from Kerry voters. So, either the decrease happened 4 years ago or the percentage of single issue voters is pretty much the same as ever.

I expect the answer is fear and bigotry held and still holds a contingent of voters on the progressive side.
