You didn't listen to the whole interview. You have taken the statement about McCain out of context. As I recall, Maher was saying that McCain has flip-flopped and that he wonders whether voters are going to vote for McCain in the belief that, after he is elected, he will revert back to independent thinking. I don't remember the language exactly, so maybe I am wrong. But that is what I understood Maher to say.

Maher makes jokes -- it's called irony.
