there are plenty of us old timers around - in terms of those of us who remember this site as a great place for progressives to gather and discuss issues.

I am also shocked at the number of threads that call for no criticism of our candidate - to completely give him a pass until after he is elected. There have been several issues where, IMHO, he has completely failed us as progressives - among them his FISA vote, his abortion stand, his surrender in dealing with the national debt, and his stand on faith-based initiatives. To ignore these - and not call him on them would be unconscionable.

I am also greatly concerned with potential SCOTUS changes. I am not comfortable that his choices would provide a balance.

I am amazed at the number of posters at this site - a growing number - that bash, offend, insult, with liberal profanity, anyone who criticizes Obama. The arguments against opposing candidates during the primaries were straight out of FR. I agree with your assessment as to where many of the new posters come from - unfortunately.

(Just returned to Florida from a week in WVa - Marlinton. What a great week - cool evenings, nice people. What part of the state are you from?)
