260. Thanks TBF, your kind words mean a lot to me
I was able to celebrate the 4th with a veteran buddy of mine, here just south of Nashville, TN. I told him about my worries with the protests during this speech. He is open minded, a former Republican, and he confirmed my fears that people in the center would foster a negative reaction to protests such as that at Monticello.

We all want our country to be a better place, and have our own opinions on how to get there. I hope, for our contry's sake, that we are able to move beyond the hate that the recent political landscape has thrown up against us in order to make a better America.

I know that there are many who have gone to the edges of the political spectrum while seeking some kind of refuge from the nightmare that much of this has become. I also know that many know that a change in course is needed if our nation is to right itself, and that the majority of Americans believe the same.

My belief is that the Democratic party, if it is to become the agent of change that it desires, must appeal to a larger base. I belive that the timing is perfect and that the majority of Americans want to be a part of this movement. However, despite the personal political persuasions of those to the far left, they must realize that they must gain a majority of the public in order to achieve their goals.

Again, thanks for you kind words. I have often found comfort in this online community. This is one of the first times that I've had a differing opinion than the majority of the posters. It is trying, and makes me wonder if I am in the right place. However, I keep in mind that there are many ways to skin a cat, and that while I might not agree with all on board, our hearts are in the right place.

Thanks again.

BJ
