I absolutely hate dining out in the US. There you are, 1/4-way through your meal when the rude-assed waiter slips you the bill in that faux-leather binder and leaves with "if you need anything else, I'll be glad to add it to your tab." So, there it sits like a fart nobody wants to take credit for, adding back that element of tension you had hoped to leave at home.

The American dining experience is a study in rudeness.
