80. The problem isn't that he used the word "cunt"
(I should say up front, that I'm of the school of thought that believes that if a word has the power to offend, you should shout that word from the rooftops to remove that power. I also agree with certain feminists that since a "cunt" is warm, welcoming and beautiful, it's not much of an insult).

The problem is where and when he used it. The word can be used without causing offence, in an intimate setting, between consenting adults. If Mr and Mrs McCain like to use fruity language in the bedroom, that's no-one else's business. The problem is that he obviously used it with an intention to insult. That's bad enough (and a complete over-reaction to what was a fairly mild tease about his thinning hair) but he also used it in public, in front of witnesses. That suggests that either A) his temper is a real issue or B) he has a need to demonstrate poersonal power which is worrying in a politician.
