Now, various media markets either get saturation campaigning or no campaigning at all depending on the accident of which state borders they happen to lie within. Under the electoral college, the candidates ignore the needs of the huge cities in the Northeast and on the Pacific Coast.
With a national popular vote, media markets would get attention in direct proportion to the number of people who actually live there. Since politicians are supposed to serve the people, not arbitrary tracts of land, this situation would be fairer to the people.
