7. Some Mixed Feelings on It
I have many mixed feelings about that. First, I am unimpressed with Obama and the claims some silly people make, and I was not happy about Ted and Caroline's endorsement, but when I caught the event on C-SPAN that same day, with all the organization, class, excitement, unstoppable-rolling-wave-of-history feeling that you so often get from Kennedy events, I was overwhelmed by it all, and knew that it was a hugely important, very significant milestone event during the campaign, and would probably turn the tide. It had such a wonderful, historical and fun/rally feel to it, like a winner, that I was so impressed even though I have been as unimpressed with Obama as I have been with Hillary Clinton. It was like a great old-time Democratic rally, and I loved the whole sense of the world, from it. I just got the sense that Ted and Caroline decided they could not support the "known 'D'LC" that the Clintons were/are, whatever Obama may end up being. I also understand the anger of feminists who felt really betrayed. My feeling about it was, I didn't agree with the endorsement at all, but I love and respect Kennedys, (and Roosevelts), so much, that I forgot about it, and it didn't affect my opinion of the great Kennedys. Now John Edwards's late endorsement, after all this pretense of "not wanting to affect things" etc., just annoyed me.
