Selling Water More Profitable Than Growing Crops, Say California Farmers

Farmers in California say more money can be made by selling their subsidized water to other farms and towns since it would be more profitable than growing crops. "It just makes dollars and sense right now," says Sacramento Valley farmer Bruce Rolen.

California's water shortage is the worst in ten years and is responsible for the price hike there. Some who want to sell their water include those that grow water-intensive crops like rice. Their customers would be in the south where it's dry.
