138. I've used that phrase when defending the right to an abortion
but I never used that phrase in the way you've suggested. Ultimately, it's the woman's decision, but I hope she'd regard an abortion as a serious enough issue that she'd consult with those she trusts to help with that decision, including her doctor (if she chooses to do so), her preacher (if she chooses to do so), and with any other trusted friend or advisor (again, if she chooses to do so), not to mention the father (whether or not she chooses to do so except in certain circumstances). And finally, I don't agree with the simple statement that a woman has a right to do whatever she wants with her body and therefore no other person or governmental authority has the right to say otherwise for the simple reason that I believe a fetus is a potential life, which is why I believe an abortion is a serious moral issue. It's not the same as having plastic surgery or getting a tattoo and, if we want to preserve Roe vs. Wade, abortion should not be compared to simply removing a body part.
