will eviscerate Medicare. Being the cynic I am, I often think about the Republicans bashing the so-called entitlement programs (never mind that some baby-boomers have been taxed on these entitlements for 30-40 years) and reiterating something must be done. It's pretty obvious Corporate America does not want its profit margins diminished by health care premiums for its employees -- they can do without or someone else can pay.
The perfect way to eradicate Medicare would be to include Seniors in the pool of insureds under a National Health Care program. Carrying my cynicism a step further, I believe there is a leading Democratic candidate who has very Republican leanings that I feel wouldn't think twice about zapping this program, doing it under the umbrella of simply giving all Americans what they have demanded.
Mandates on a national health insurance policy incorporating people who cannot pay suggest the premiums might be deducted from one's social security.
AND IF THAT IS THE END RESULT, THE REPUBLICANS WILL GET WHAT THEY HAVE ALWAYS WANTED SINCE THESE PROGRAMS WERE IMPLEMENTED.
