31. Iraq and the economy are linked
There were some polls done a couple of years ago, and probably during the 04 elections, too, that showed when you ask voters about the linkage between the billions the US spends in Iraq that is taken away from our own programs and its affect on our economy, people were very upset.

The group who were most willing to vote for Dems based on these two issues was women. My guess is that, by now, men would care also.

These two issues are very linked and the worse the economy grows, the more likely voters are going to blame it on Iraq.
