I couldn't give a fuck about whether a retailer tells their employees to say "Happy Holidays" or "Merry Christmas".
On the other hand, I do not sympathize with the self-styled dilemma retailers find themselves in, namely, how can they prise the most money out of the most people without offending anyone? If businesses make a decision that it is better for their bottom line to offend Christians, then they can feel free enjoy the benefits of that decision.
But don't whine to me that companies have a right to make money off of Christmas without actually acknowledging it. That's a cake-and-eat-it-too position, and it's just not reasonable.
