but i think a distinction can be drawn when demand for food, for instance comes into play.
I remember the scene in "Dancing with Wolves" where Costner's character narrates after the battle with the Pawnee. He said something to the effect that this battle made more sense than any battle he had ever fought. It wasn't about land or politics or attitudes. It was about who was going to have enough food to make it through the winter.
Your point is well taken and provides food for thought (pardon the pun)
