they showed what would happen if any of the three contenders won.

Gore, expected homework from everyone, Nader was surrounded by flying pigs and Bush was hiding behind his desk, evntually coming out to try to explain how a bunch ludicrously crazy disasters had occurred on his watch. (Will Ferrell's portrayal)

IIRC, the audience laughed, with maybe an overtone of nervousness, but it was supposed to be farcical.

It often seems that skit has come to life over and over, and I don't think many would laugh anymore.

For some reason, looking at these pics brought forward this thought.
