8. She was a steel magnolia in the best sense of the term.
I think one of the most impressive things about her was that Jimmy grew up with black friends, in rural south Georgia, and that was obviously fine with her. I was born not far from Plains in the mid 1940's, and it was NOT ok with most folks for white children to play with black children. She lived the life she chose, and produced a great son. He's my hero and so is she!
