Because the pathology of authoritarianism - the sickness of power - has plagued our species since the dawn of our time on Earth. That some wish to impose their will against others is the crux of our existential dilemma ... or, that the haters have, over time, devised very sophisticated and elaborate belief systems which prevent rational, humane people from understanding it, as to lessen democratic interference.
