11. A friend works in Washington, DC, for part of the Department of Health
The part that deals with typesetting (is it still called that?) military medical texts so he's around military types all day (and drives them crazy with his sense of humor).

Colonel: Okay, the World Health Organization will be here Tuesday...
Doug: Wait a minute... WHO?
Colonel: The World Health Organi... Shut up, Doug.

Anyway, a memo was put out advising military personnel not to attend the counter-rally that will take place. Doug started trying to encourage the formation of a counter-counter rally (an idea we did in college) where you show up with signs that make no sense for the event (like "US Out of Vietnam" at an anti-choice rally) and solicited possible slogans to put on signs. He told me that three of mine were well-liked so I'm hoping that "Soylent Green Is People! PEOPLE!", "Nobody Puts Baby in a Corner," and someone holding up an actual, "End Construction" roadside will be there.
