Is Time Magazine liberal or conservative?

Lately I've been trying to decide whether Time Magazine slants left, right, or no way at all. I've seen quite convincing evidence for both presumptions. However, considering their burial of Scooter Libby's pardon (one measly ho-hum atricle) and lack of any coverage on Cheney's power grap, here are some "interesting" recent columns/articles from our friends at Time Magazine.

SOME GOOD NEWS, FINALLY, FROM IRAQ

"Recent days have brought other signs of progress for the country, even amid persisting scenes of violence and desperation that make up daily life here.

Civilian deaths in Iraq dropped 36% in June, according to statistics made public by the Ministry of Interior. Violence across Iraq last month left at least 1,227 civilians dead, the ministry said. In May, the figure was 1,949. The trend seems to suggest that the influx of U.S. troops to Iraq has put militants on the run to some degree. U.S. forces say they control roughly half of Baghdad's neighborhoods, whereas earlier they acknowledged that up to three-fourths of the capital was beyond their reach.

And Tuesday Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki said his cabinet had finally approved a draft of a new revenue-sharing oil law the White House sees as a key to reconciliation. The announcement came as a surprise after the measure had languished for months amid intense fighting among factions representing Iraq's Kurds, Shi'ites and Sunnis."

EVERYBODY HATES CONGRESS

"Democrats won the house on a platform of change, but after six months voters across the political spectrum have lost patience waiting for specific evidence of it. Lefties are unhappy the war isn't over. Environmentalists are angry at the delayed energy bill. Unions hated the now-dead immigration bill. Seniors want their drug prices lowered. Every voter—regardless of party—wants the House ethics rules changed."

WHY AMERICANS SHOULD FEEL HAPPY (Commentary by William Kristol)

"Think of it this way: Have events in general gone better or worse than most people would have predicted on Sept. 12, 2001? There's been no successful second attack here in the U.S.--and very limited terrorist successes in Europe or even in the Middle East. We've had 5 1/2 years of robust economic growth, low unemployment and a stock-market recovery. Social indicators in the U.S. are mostly stable or improving--abortions, teenage births and teenage drug use are down and education scores are up a bit. It may well be that no other country has ever been stronger than the U.S. today--and it may well be that no other people in human history have ever had it quite so good."

See if you all can help me to decide.
