"Crashing Through" is the story of Mike May, a blind man who was offered the chance to undergo stem cell transplant surgery to regain the sight he lost at age three. Initially unsure whether he wanted eyesight, Mr. May eventually underwent the operation. The book recounts how he made the decision and how he adjusted to life after the surgery. Mr. May appears with the author at this event. The author, Robert Kurson, will also appear on Q&A this weekend. You can see his interview on Sunday night, June 24th at 8pm and 11pm et on C-SPAN.

Robert Kurson is a contributing editor for Esquire magazine and the author of "Shadow Divers." He previously worked for the Chicago Sun-Times and Chicago magazine. Prior to his journalism career, Mr. Kurson worked as a Harvard-educated real estate lawyer, Wal-Mart options trader, data entry clerk and drapery installer.
