This sounds really bad, but I'm wondering about something no one has mentioned.

They used to do atmospheric nuke tests. There were dozens of nukes exploded in open air during the 1950s and 1960s, until the 1963 (?) test ban treaty. Didn't those flood the world with lots of radiation & fallout? Was it really a disastrous time? ... Or is the rise in cancer rates since then the actual effect/danger?

Is the amount of radiation & fallout from these 6 reactors worse than one nuke test? What was the cumulative effect over the dozen+ years there were nuke tests?

Lots of questions, and fortunately we have a Democratic government in power now that won't lie to us. :sarcasm:
