http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.ph... I voted for Obama, reluctantly, because I was not a true believer in his "Change"; and I'm not seeing anything much different from Bush other than style. (The last time I truly believed in a political candidate in any campaign was when I was twelve years old... I learned well the lesson "Watch what they do, not what they say.)
I'm sure there are going to be those who take a torch to my post, but take a good look at his "acomplishments" for example, health care reform. I will now be required to carry insurance that I can't afford and which does not adequately cover me at a much higher cost than I would have paid BEFORE HCR, and the "public option" is not available. The good points of HCR were all "compromised" out of existance before the vote. Guanatanamo is still open. We still have a large presence in Iraq. And the Afganistan "action" has been greatly magnified, while the promised withdrawal date is being pushed further and further away.
I read a headline in my local paper that Rep. Mica (R) (Orlando) wanted airports to do away with TSA screenings. What?! I gasped! Mica wants to do away with the TSA?! Then I read the rest of the article. He wants airports to kick out TSA and hire private security.

We, the people, have very, very few friends and/or true representatives (Kucinich and Grayson come to mind) in Washington. And Obama ain't one of them. There's an old poem about a drunk lying down in the gutter with a pig. A gentleman and a lady walk by and see the drunk in the gutter with the pig and the lady says, "You can tell a man who boozes by the company he chooses, And the pig got up and walked away." The company Obama chose to be his top advisers are either owned by or are the very corporate stooges we have been screaming about for ages.
The more things change, the more they stay the same.
I will and do give Obama credit for taking the student loans away from the banking industry; it never belonged there in the first place. But most of his changes were negotiated down to toothless sharks with hidden stings for the people the change was supposed to help.
