should I overlook the fact that I love her, and she loves me, because we spend our working lives in completely different spheres? in fact, working diametrically against each other? really?

Welcome to the big city, we all have friends across the aisle, it's the only way the world works. I know several couples that work for different parties, I have friends who work for people I despise, and they despise the people I work for. Even in DC, you know, politics isn't everything.
