Honestly: he does a superb job, almost without precedent in TV news, of creating a show that brings the public and objective view together with the unavoidable personal aspects of the viewer and the broadcaster, and of having a broad enough view to encompass both the deadly serious and trivially comic elements of an ordinary American's day.
