your dilemma, I have to say that I believe it would have been in your best interest to float around for a while and respond to posts in a constructive fashion that actually indicated that you were interested in what others had to say, at least until you had enough posts to be able to start a thread on your own.

To have your very first DU post be a request for donations, tacked onto another's thread, seems...somewhat less than tactful.
