25. War is human nature.
Bleak and depressing as that is, it's also an undeniable fact. You may delude yourself by thinking we've progressed beyond it, but the truth is, we haven't. This doesn't make it right, or acceptable, or something to be glorified; only inevitable (as Kurt Vonnegut said, you might as well try to stop glaciers). As long as human beings continue to be group-oriented social animals with a pack-hierarchy mentality, there WILL be wars, and violence.
