a brutal and barbaric practice that is quite widespread in the country in question. No, not everyone aborts or kills their female children. Just a lot of them do.

If I could give an award out once a week for the best 'understatement', you certainly would get it hands down.

I do not believe that even comes close to the actual circumstances (from the previous thread):

Ten million girls have been killed by their parents in India in the past 20 years, either before they were born or immediately after, a government minister said on Thursday, describing it as a "national crisis".

Those poor girls have been emancipated right out of this world.
