They all serve different genuine needs well.

It's true that government has rewarded capital and punished labor, but that doesn't mean that encouraging savings by workers is wrong.

I'm a working-class guy, and because I saved 20% of my (modest) income from age 23 through 38, I'm able to stay home to raise my youngest child, without fear that my retirement will be unfunded.

"IRA" or "401k" does not necessarily equal "stock market". If you don't trust the stock market, you can invest in bonds, gold or real estate.
