BYU does not even have a tenure system, which stifles the academic freedom of its scholars. The result is that professors will not pursue controversial research topics or anything that challenges LDS church dogma.

For the record, I do not find his conspiracy theories to be convincing, but I am disturbed when I see a professor dismissed for producing unpopular research findings and theories.
