The Ultimate Plot Theory:

O.K. Here goes:

The fact of the matter is that Woodward, as a 'former' CIA operative, has been utilized for decades to guide the path of this country in the direction in which it is intended to go. Those of us politically active in the Watergate era recall that rather than flailing and getting dead-ended, he was fed information by insiders, one of whom he popularized as Deep Throat. This was really a euphemism for several who sought to bring down the Nixon Presidency. Dean was a plant as well and the Administration was destroyed by the real cancer growing within. Dean had mentioned that there was a cancer growing within the Presidency and people often believe that he was referring to Haldeman (who was gay, BTW - his son wrote that revealing article in the NYT magazine some years ago)and Ehrlichman et al. He wasn't - he was talking about those who were positioned to remove Nixon and pave the way for the real puppets.

Woodward allowed himself to become extraoridinarily wealthy and powerful, writing books and rising to impossibly powerful journalistic heights, but his master stroke was writing the two positive tomes on the Bush Jr. administration. It was a double fake right, fake right, go left maneuver. his recent interviews caught them with their pants down. Who would have considered that beating the daylights out of a CIA operative named Valerie would have such consequences? Well, many of us did over here and were wondering when they'd do the job on the Administration for destroying one of their own. Woodward once again is the messenger of destruction.

Meanwhile, back at the ranch, this crowd of elected folks who were chock full of fatal, blackmailable flaws, tripped up in the one way that they really can't spin. Rape, even murder, are explainable or even excusable, ask a certain MSNBC host how he beat the rap, both personally and professionally, but pedophilia is the one taboo which transcends all arguments. Many have called this crowd a Teflon Group, but as many have noted before, when Teflon scratches, then everything sticks to it. Now, everyone who's anyone is looking very carefully at each of these GOPers and trying to figure out if they're gay, or worse, have 'short eyes'. The beauty of the execution of this plot is that what shall bring down this crowd is not the Left, but the Right. That was the ultimate Kronsteen-like trick (see: From Russia With Love).

There's lots more, but I believe that many of the political plots of the last few years have been taken directly from the existing literature written by Clancy, LeCarre, Fleming, and others. In answer to Condi's question (pararphrased), "Who would have expected jetliners to be used as weapons?", Tom Clancy's I would say, since he based two whole long novels upon that scenario. There's been a literary basis for all these goings-on and I do believe that we have not read the final chapter in this particular novella. Stay tuned.
