But there's a whole crowd of people in the middle, many of whom work nights, that need to be reached with something other than Limbaugh-like language. For those who already agree that the GOP are a bunch of craven assholes, MM is great...but we have an election to win in 08, and they've got to stake out that time slot and grow a product that people are LISTENING to in 07. And they're listening because it appeals across a wide range.

I don't know this for a fact, but I strongly suspect it. The theme is that DEMOCRATS are REASONABLE, interesting, engaging, and have YOUR best interests at heart....REPUBLICANS are HATE-FILLED, screaming, spittle-flecked ASSHOLES.
