that I suspect your secretary was having trouble making ends under Clinton too and believes that's probably not going to change no matter which party is running Washington. And it's hard to argue with that. People are cynical about government. And if government can't do anything substantial without fucking it up, what's left: bullshit like flag burning. Cultural wedge issues. It's frustrating, but they arent' going to turn into policy experts overnight. If we really fight for things that matter to working people, maybe they'll come back to putting bread and butter issues first.
