The mainstream media as inspired by Ken Mehlman and Karl Rove would have us believe that the great conflict of our time is between George W. Bush (good) and the forces of terror (evil). If this were truly a conflict between diametric opposites, then why is the "evil" constantly assisting the "good?"

Don't the terrorists know that their actions are the only sure and consistent way to boost Bush's approval ratings? Don't they know that with every one of their plans discovered, it furthers Bush and Cheney's primary desire for more government power? Don't they know that every attempted attack on western targets will increase support for Republicans and their foreign policy of mass slaughter of muslim civilians?

Maybe they do know all this. Maybe they want to help Bush. It's only natural considering everything Bush has done for them.

1. He has made the United States the most despised nation on earth.
2. He has isolated the United States from our former strategic allies.
3. He has reversed the anti-opium policies of the Taliban to make Afghanistan the premier supplier in the world in order to better fund terrorism.
4. He removed their sworn enemy, the secular dictator Saddam Hussein.
5. He turned Iraq into the greatest recruiting and training ground they could have ever hoped for.
6. He gave them an arena in which they can easily kill American soldiers.
7. He gave them the moral high ground in many muslim communities that have borne the brunt of American aggression leading to massive increases in terrorist recruitment.
8. He has encouraged our entire nation to live in fear.

Perhaps the terrorists are just being polite. It makes sense that they would feel gratitude for the many gifts Bush has bestowed upon them. With all this in mind, perhaps we wouldn't be surprised to learn that Karl Rove pumps his fist and cheers whenever terrorist activity is on the rise, because he knows that it makes his job that much easier.

The foreign policy of the United States has done more for terrorism than terrorists ever could. This is not a battle between good and evil. It is a do-si-do of two hateful and recklessly violent forces feeding off each other's aggression and the fear they both create in the civilized world. This is evil vs. evil. And they are both winning.
